Rolling on Continental Tires: The New VW T-Roc
- Volkswagen issues original equipment approvals for Continental tires for the new T-Roc
- EcoContact 7S, EcoContact 7, WinterContact TS 870 P and AllSeasonContact 2 tires approved in sizes from 16 to 19 inches
Hanover, Germany, April 28, 2026. Continental is supplying tires for the new T-Roc, Volkswagen’s compact SUV. The tire manufacturer has received original equipment approval for the EcoContact 7 S and the EcoContact 7 in sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches. For the T-Roc, Volkswagen also recommends the WinterContact TS 870 P for colder seasons and the AllSeasonContact 2 as an all-season option.
The EcoContact 7 summer tire features a special rubber compound and the Smart Energy Casing technology to ensure high energy efficiency. New materials used in the tire carcass, inner layer and sidewall reduce friction inside the tire and thus lower rolling resistance. In addition, the sidewall’s aerodynamically optimized design further improves efficiency. To achieve this, Continental combines various technologies, including the golf-inspired "aerodimple" structure. The small dimples in the tire sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tire, meaning the vehicle uses less energy.
The tire’s Silent Pattern tread design reduces rolling noise. Engineers have optimized the spacing and angles of the tread blocks, adapting the tread design to the noise frequencies typically generated at lower urban driving speeds. This results in a noticeably quieter ride, benefiting drivers, passengers, passersby and nearby residents alike.
The EcoContact 7, designed for energy efficiency, is approved for the T-Roc in 16-, 17- and 18- inch sizes. The sportier EcoContact 7 S is available in 16-, 17- and 19- inch sizes.
Volkswagen recommends WinterContact TS 870 P and AllSeasonContact 2 for wet and cold
For winter driving, Volkswagen recommends the WinterContact TS 870 P. Its tread design and innovative sipe structure provide reliable grip on snow and ice. The rubber compound remains flexible even at low temperatures, enabling short braking distances and safe handling in wet, cold and snowy conditions.
Drivers who prefer to use a single set of tires all year round can choose the AllSeasonContact 2. Continental's all-season tire offers balanced performance in both summer and wet winter conditions.
