Continental’s “Smart Port – Better Flow” Vision and Digital Solutions Inspire Visitors at TOC Europe 2023

      • Focus on digital fleet management tools and comprehensive tire portfolio for efficient and sustainable port operations
      • Together with Continental, port operators can increase efficiency, safety and sustainability
      • New Bluetooth-enabled generation of sensors for ContiConnect 2.0 digital tire management system

Hanover, Germany, June 20, 2023. Continental can look back on an exciting TOC Europe 2023 – one of the world’s leading shipping, ports and terminal fairs. In line with its “Smart Port – Better Flow” vision, the technology company presented its ideas and proposals for the digital port solutions of tomorrow.

Digital connected tires for smart ports

The focus of the fair was on smart port solutions that effectively help operators to stay ahead of the megatrends in the industry. Teck Seng Chew, product manager for Port Operation Tires: “We advise our customers based on their specific needs by monitoring vehicle behavior, environmental influences and tire conditions, thus enabling them to run their operations with the lowest total cost of ownership.” With the rise of automated processes and autonomous vehicles at international ports, digital tire management solutions help operators to become more cost-efficient and sustainable. Chew: “We had a lot of productive conversations during the fair, and there was a high level of interest in our solutions.”

New Bluetooth-enabled generation of sensors presented at the trade fair

Visitors to the trade fair were able to get an impression of the ContiConnect 2.0 digital tire management system and the new generation of Bluetooth-enabled sensors recently introduced by Continental. These allow fleet managers and drivers to access tire data for the vehicle directly via any smart device, such as a mobile phone, and transfer it to the web portal. In addition, each tire in the system is assigned a digital twin including the article number. As a result, the fleet manager always knows which tire is on which vehicle and in which wheel position. The tread depth can also be recorded directly in the system. Chew: “ContiConnect 2.0 minimizes operation downtime caused by tire-related issues. Our solution ensures that tires always operate at optimum condition, which leads to better safety and mileage performance. Soon, we will integrate the tire data into software solutions for a total fleet management system. Our vision for the future is close to becoming a reality.”
