  • Highlights: the scalable digital tire management system ContiConnect, the TerminalMaster tire and Smart Tire Consulting for port operations
  • Federico Jiménez, Head of Port Operation Tires Business Field: “With our port tires, we are already enabling more efficient, digital and sustainable operations – and are thus helping to shape the future”

Hanover, Germany, May 23, 2025. Continental is committed to promoting sustainability in port logistics – which is why the focus at this year’s TOC Europe is on sustainable port operations. To this end, the premium tire manufacturer is committed to the digital transformation of the port environment and is presenting tire and digital technologies in line with its vision of “Smart Port – Better Flow.” Federico Jiménez, Head of the Port Operation Tires Business Field, says: “We focus on the needs of our customers and provide them with tailor-made solutions. With our port tires, we are already enabling more efficient, digital and sustainable operations – and are thus helping to shape the future.” Sustainability is one of the four strategic pillars of Continental Tires’ Vision 2030: the company aims to achieve carbon-neutral production by 2040. By 2050 at the latest, all tires are to be made from 100 percent sustainable materials.

TOC Europe 2025 will take place from June 17 to 19, 2025, in Rotterdam, Netherlands; Continental’s booth H20 will be located in Hall 1. Its dedicated port tire experts will be on hand to provide advice on how to improve port efficiency, sustainability and safety. Continental invites interested visitors to set up a meeting using the registration form: Continental at TOC Europe 2025 - Continental AG

Holistic solutions for more sustainable port operations

Continental combines high-performance tires with digital solutions to support port operators in their sustainable and efficient operations. Its holistic approach includes innovative technologies as well as sustainable products and services along the entire value chain: starting with the sourcing of environmentally friendly materials to the tires’ use phase. Production is already based on energy-efficient processes and renewable energy. That is why Continental’s plant in Lousado, Portugal, was honored at this year’s Tire Technology International Awards for its environmentally friendly tire production, and Continental was named Tire Manufacturer of the Year. These achievements underscore Continental’s commitment to innovation and its dedication to a sustainable future for the tire industry.

Specifically developed for port terminals, the TerminalMaster demonstrates how robust tire technology can deliver real operational benefits. With an extra-deep tread and a reinforced industrial carcass, it offers particularly high resistance to external damages while significantly extending tire mileage.

Digital solutions boost port sustainability

Digital solutions play a key role in port sustainability. ContiConnect allows port operators to manage their fleets efficiently and transparently. The system enables efficient digital tire management that helps reduce CO2 emissions: properly inflated tires can save up to one percent of fuel and extend tire life by up to 20 percent. This reduces both direct and indirect emissions while lowering operating costs.

The Lite version of ContiConnect is a simple, mobile-only solution that provides easy monitoring at no additional cost. ContiConnect Pro, on the other hand, offers a comprehensive remote digital tire management solution with real-time data analysis, automated monitoring and reporting as well as data integration into external systems. ContiConnect Pro is suited to larger fleets with vehicles that frequently return to dedicated check points or vehicles that require 24/7 real-time monitoring.

Smart Tire Consulting offers further optimization

To further optimize port operations, Continental is making its tire expertise available to port operators. As part of its Smart Tire Consulting, tire experts provide recommendations to optimize vehicle utilization based on distance, speed and active time per trip or cycle. This helps customers improve their operational processes, resulting in optimized tire usage and routing. It also provides recommendations on the right tire based on analyzed application data. Fleet operators benefit from increased visibility, prevention of premature tire failure and extended tire life.

Together, these solutions not only help reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO), but also support port operators in achieving their environmental goals. That way, sustainability becomes a measurable factor and a clear competitive advantage in port operations.
