New Era in Long-Distance Coach Tires: Continental Launches the Conti Coach HA 5

  • Lower energy consumption and emissions through best-in-class rolling resistance
  • Extended mileage and durability thanks to advanced tread compound
  • Superior safety in all-weather conditions with improved pattern design
  • Available as an intelligent tire equipped with sensor technology

Hanover, Germany, October 2, 2025. Continental, a global leader in tire technology, has unveiled the Conti Coach HA 5. It is the first model in its newly developed Conti Coach Generation 5 line – tailored for the People segment in the EMEA region. This all-axle fitment tire meets the demands of long-distance and intercity travel with a well-balanced combination of exceptional mileage, best-in-class rolling resistance*, and superior all-weather safety. Designed as both a base tire and an intelligent tire, the Conti Coach HA 5 enables fleets to reduce fuel consumption, lower CO₂ emissions, and maximize tire service life. “The Conti Coach HA 5 is the most advanced coach tire we have ever developed,” says Hinnerk Kaiser, Head of Product Development at Continental Truck Tires EMEA. “By combining state-of-the-art tread compounds with an optimized casing design, the new tire is independent of weather conditions. It delivers outstanding 20 percent higher mileage, 10 percent lower rolling resistance, and reliable safety thanks to its high grip, compared to the predecessor tire. This means that fleets can cover more miles over the entire life of the tire, consume less fuel, and produce fewer CO₂ emissions.”

Increasing demands in long-distance and intercity transport

The launch comes at an important time for the coach and intercity transport sector, where operators face fluctuating energy prices, stricter environmental regulations, and mounting pressure to improve passenger comfort and reliability. At the same time, demand for climate-friendly bus transport is growing across Europe, and with it, so does demand for suitable tires for city buses and long-distance coaches. Addressing these challenges, Continental has engineered a tire that delivers superior wear resistance under high loads and varied road conditions, thanks to an advanced tread cap compound. This durability ensures fleets can operate efficiently while extending tire life.

New standards in efficiency, durability and comfort

Energy savings and emissions reduction are at the core of the Conti Coach HA 5. An optimized casing construction and specially developed tread formulation minimize heat build-up, resulting in best-in-class rolling resistance*. This efficiency is reflected in the tire’ EU label rating of B for rolling resistance and B for wet grip, confirming its strong balance of reduced energy use and reliable safety performance. “By combining cutting-edge tread compounds with an optimized casing design, we have created a tire that delivers outstanding mileage, best-in-class rolling resistance*, and exceptional safety – no matter the weather conditions. This means fleets can travel further, consume less fuel, and produce fewer CO₂ emissions over the tire’s lifetime,” explains Hinnerk Kaiser, Head of Product Development, Continental Truck Tires EMEA.

Safety: Reliable grip in wet conditions

Safety is another cornerstone of the new design– the Conti Coach HA 5 incorporates an improved pattern design with pocket sipes that maintain grip in wet conditions, ensuring passenger confidence and comfort from the first to the last kilometer. This all-weather capability makes the tire a dependable choice across diverse road and climate conditions.

Intelligent through sensor technology

To provide even greater value, the Conti Coach HA 5 is offered as an intelligent tire, with an integrated sensor that enables digital monitoring and supports real-time fleet management. This technology allows operators to track performance continuously, extend service intervals, and reduce downtime. By maximizing tire lifespan and minimizing resource use, the intelligent version lowers total cost of ownership while boosting fleet efficiency. “Our goal was to create a tire that doesn’t force fleet operators to choose between cost efficiency and environmental responsibility,” Kaiser adds. “The Conti Coach HA 5 directly supports operators’ climate targets by lowering fuel usage and emissions, while its durability and retreadability reduce raw material consumption. It’s a solution designed for both operational performance and measurable environmental benefits.”

Reduced overall operating costs and environmental footprint

The Conti Coach HA 5 is now available for both the original equipment (OE) and replacement markets across the EMEA region. Ideally suited for long-haul and intercity bus fleets, it offers year-round dependability while reducing overall operating costs and helping minimize environmental footprint. With the launch of the Conti Coach HA 5, Continental underscores its commitment to providing intelligent tire solutions that combine operational efficiency, sustainability, and passenger safety – empowering fleets to meet the transport demands of the future.

The Conti Coach HA 5 is available in size 295/80 R 22.5. It comes with sensors as standard for original equipment; these are available on request for the replacement market.
