Continental Launches Production of Radial Motorcycle Tires in Thailand

  • Rayong plant: start of radial motorcycle tire production marks milestone for Continental
  • State-of-the-art technology and high automation for premium quality
  • IATF certification confirms high manufacturing standards and strengthens position in global original equipment market

Hanover, Germany, May 22, 2026. On May 22, 2026, as part of the opening ceremonies, Continental is celebrating both the second expansion phase of the Rayong plant for the Passenger and Light Truck Tires division and the start of radial production of Motorcycle Tires – marking a significant milestone.

“By expanding our facility in Thailand, we are strategically strengthening our global production structure for Continental Motorcycle Tires. Together with our established operations in our Korbach plant in Germany, we are laying the groundwork for a faster, more flexible response to market demands”, says Christoph Ettenhuber, Head of Business Field Motorcycle Tires at Continental. “Rayong is a key component of our international motorcycle tire strategy and underscores our clear commitment to growth and state-of-the-art production processes. For our customers, this means premium quality made by Continental – no matter which continent they’re on or which roads they travel."

State-of-the-art technology and high vertical integration

The motorcycle tire manufacturing facility in Rayong is equipped with the most modern equipment. From the production of rubber compounds to the delivery of the finished tire, all production steps are carried out in-house. All manufacturing processes and machines follow Continental’s global standards for quality control and process expertise. The plant is designed to produce high-quality radial and diagonal tires – and provides room for further growth in the motorcycle business field.

Automation and quality control at the highest level

In manufacturing, Continental relies on a high degree of automation and quality assurance. All components are checked at every step to maintain strict quality specifications. Automatic monitoring systems eliminate potential manual errors and ensure precision in every work step.

“Quality is our top priority – for our original equipment customers as well as for end consumers”, explains Sahil Agrawal, Head of Manufacturing Operations in Rayong. “Our system captures every detail: all tires are fully traceable at every production step. Online monitoring systems such as automatic scales, profilometers and camera systems ensure that every component is within specification limits. Automation – from the green tire spray system to automatic tool management – enables us to achieve maximum quality levels while creating an ergonomic and safe working environment.”

Radial and diagonal tires for various requirements

Production in Rayong encompasses both radial and diagonal tires. With this portfolio, Continental caters to different types of riders and usage scenarios, such as the specific needs and requirements of sport-oriented or adventure-seeking motorcyclists. Products already in production include popular radial tires in the sport-touring segment as well as diagonal tires for adventure touring riders, for example.

IATF certification for global original equipment standards

Another testament to Continental’s commitment to quality is the IATF certification that the Rayong plant received in March 2026. This certification to international automotive standards provides original-equipment customers with additional security and confidence, as it guarantees continuous quality processes and supply reliability at a global level.

The expansion of the Rayong tire plant is also a sign of Continental’s sustainability commitment. The plant uses solar energy and covers approximately 13 percent of its electricity needs from renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the expansion creates new jobs that strengthen the regional economy.
