Continental Debuts at Metstrade 2025 with skai Artificial Leather for Marine Hospitality

Continental’s Surface Solutions (SSL) business area will make its first appearance at Metstrade 2025, the leading international trade fair for marine equipment, taking place in Amsterdam from November 18 to 20, 2025.

Under the tagline “When out at sea, count on skai,” Continental will unveil a range of elegant, functional and sea-ready surface solutions designed to meet the highest standards of durability and design. At booth 11.404, visitors can explore the skai brand portfolio of artificial leather for upholstery, developed specifically for hospitality furniture in marine environments. The highlight of the exhibit is the public debut of skai Misuna EN.

“We are pleased to see how highly regarded our Continental surface materials are within the leisure marine industry,” said Christelle Perico-Darras, head of Hospitality, Healthcare & Public Areas EMEA. “Metstrade offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relationships and explore new collaborations with professionals in this dynamic sector.”

Product premiere: skai Misuna EN

Making its first public appearance, skai Misuna EN is a versatile upholstery material with a modern textile grain and a palette of 25 colors. Developed specifically for outdoor use, skai Misuna EN meets all relevant standards and regulations, making it ideal for yachts, cruise ships and other maritime settings.

In addition to skai Misuna EN, Continental will showcase other materials and highlight some of the innovative technologies that these materials feature. Among them are the skai cool colors lines, including Venezia and Valero, which are engineered to reduce surface heating under direct sunlight. This not only improves comfort but also helps to protect color fastness.

The skai Neptun Pescara collection offers high-quality artificial leather with a classic cowhide grain, specifically engineered for outdoor and marine environments. Thanks to its nanotechnology finish, the material is highly resistant to UV radiation, saltwater and dirt – perfect for boats, yachts and cruise ships. Its durability and easy-clean properties ensure long-lasting performance even under harsh conditions.

Continental will also highlight upholstery fabrics featuring staynu surface technology, which provides exceptional dirt resistance and ease of cleaning. Two key products in this category are skai Toronto EN, with a fine leather grain, and skai Tovega EN, featuring a microporous texture. Both materials are designed for indoor environments such as public spaces and hospitality areas, offering durability, resistance to disinfectants and a wide range of colors for versatile design options.

Commitment to more sustainable surfaces: skai Evida and Evida Fiber

As part of its sustainable product strategy, Continental will present skai Evida and skai Evida Fiber, two bio-based artificial leathers intended for indoor use. skai Evida consists of up to 80 percent renewable raw materials, while skai Evida Fiber reaches 90 percent, combining a natural look with durability and easy maintenance. Both products are vegan, phthalate-free and manufactured using CO2-neutral electricity.

Visitors to Metstrade are invited to explore the full range of skai materials at RAI Amsterdam, booth 11.404, and learn more about Continental’s commitment to quality, innovation and compliance in marine hospitality design.
