skai at the CSI 2025: Continental Presents Premium Surfaces for the Future of Cruise Interiors
As Hamburg welcomes the Cruise Ship Interiors Exhibition for the first time, Continental showcases how skai surfaces combine comfort and design to elevate life at sea. Under the motto “Cruise in style – with skai” the company exhibits, among other things, its new skai Misuna EN upholstery surfaces for outdoor use, and surfaces with the staynu technology that preserve the perfect look, even after thousands of passengers.
Continental’s Surface Solutions (SSL) business area will showcase its premium skai portfolio at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo (CSI) 2025, taking place December 3 to 4 at Hamburg Messe + Congress. Under the tagline “Cruise in style – with skai”, Continental will present innovative surface materials that combine functionality, durability, and design excellence at stand B52. For the first time in Germany, CSI brings together shipyards, cruise lines, architects, and designers to shape the future of cruise interiors.
“We are delighted to be present at CSI and engage with the people that shape the future of cruise ships,” said Christelle Perico-Darras, Head of Hospitality, Healthcare & Public Areas EMEA at Continental. “We are convinced that our portfolio of surface materials which are equally functional, long-lasting, and advanced in design is exactly what this industry needs. Especially in light of growing budget awareness and the understanding that longevity is also a feature of sustainability.”
Product Premiere: skai Misuna EN
Making its first public appearance with the Cruise Ship industry is skai Misuna EN, a versatile upholstery material with a modern textile grain and a palette of 25 colors. Developed specifically for outdoor applications, skai Misuna EN meets all relevant standards and regulations, making it suitable for use in maritime settings such as yachts and cruise ships.
Durability Meets Design: staynu Technology
Continental will also highlight upholstery fabrics featuring staynu surface technology, which provides exceptional dirt resistance and ease of cleaning. Two key products in this category are skai Toronto EN, with a fine leather grain, and skai Tovega EN, featuring a microporous texture. Both materials are designed for indoor environments such as public spaces and hospitality areas, offering durability, resistance to disinfectants, and a wide range of colors for versatile design options.
In addition, Continental will showcase other materials and highlight some of the innovative technologies that these materials feature. Among those are the skai cool colors lines, including skai cool colors Venezia and Valero, which are engineered to reduce surface heating under direct sunlight. This does not only increase comfort but also helps to protect color fastness.
The skai Neptun Pescara collection offers high-quality artificial leather with a classic leather grain, specifically engineered for outdoor and marine environments. Thanks to its nanotechnology finish, the material is highly resistant to UV radiation, saltwater, and dirt, making it ideal for cruise ships. Its durability and easy-clean properties ensure long-lasting performance even under harsh conditions.
Commitment to more sustainable surfaces : skai Evida and Evida Fiber
As part of its strategy for the implementation of products that are more sustainable, Continental will present skai Evida and skai Evida Fiber, two indoor artificial leathers, using bio based content.. skai Evida consists of up to 80 percent natural and renewable raw materials, while skai Evida Fiber reaches 90 percent, combining a natural look with durability and easy maintenance.
