Bangalore – Where Technology and Nature Intersect

Hello, my name is Sharath Kotian. I am a mechanical designer for electronic chassis components in the Chassis & Safety division’s Passive Safety & Sensorics business unit in Bangalore, which has been part of the Continental Corporation since 2008.

After I graduated from university in 2010, I started working here right away. I am primarily responsible for the production of control units for electric parking brakes (EPB) and electric vacuum pumps. And I coordinate contact with suppliers, production locations and customers – all with the aim of ensuring the best possible quality. Since I’m also responsible for validation, I work closely with our colleagues from Testing.

Continental actually has two facilities here in Bangalore. The first comprises the plant where various products for the three Automotive divisions are produced and is the headquarters of Automotive India. The second is the Technical Center India (TCI), a location solely dedicated to engineers developing state of the art automotive technology and providing cost effective product development support for the whole Continental Automotive Group. Both locations are great places to work – we have a lot of opportunities to learn from each other and apply our creativity. I love sketching and designing things. And in keeping with the Continental values, the culture at TCI lets you show your talents. I am also fascinated by the individual products, how they are designed, their whole life cycle. I am happy that I understand the entire process – what happens after I develop a product at my desk.

Bangalore is known as the software hub of India, and it is very international and diverse. The region has a very good reputation outside of India as well. But the city has more to offer than just IT – thanks to its many green spaces, many people call Bangalore the garden city of India. All of us who live and work here benefit from being at the intersection of technology and nature.
