Engineer, Leader and Mother. Yes, I can!

My name is Laura Boarescu and I am a Team Leader for MES and Production Test Development engineering.

I joined Conti in 2008, just after graduating the University, as an MES engineer. In the first days everything seemed so complicated but it didn’t take me too much time to understand that I was born for doing this. MES is a traceability system, so it is very important when we speak about millions of products that leave each year our Plant in Sibiu.

If when I started in the company I was a recent graduate not very confident in my knowledge, this changed in time and after gaining experience, I could say that I „grew up” together with Continental Sibiu. In time I saw that I can do more, that I can teach and guide others. So in 2013 I took the opportunity to change from expert to a leadership carrier, as MES Team Leader. It is not easy to be in this position, but each step I make is challenging me more.
If I think about the woman engineer in our days’ Conti, I think there is no difference, compared to a man. It is true that at the beginning I had the impression that you need a powerful character to succeed and go forward – sometimes I still feel it, but most of the times is just a natural thing.

Starting March 1st, 2016, beside the MES team I am responsible also for the Test Development team from Transmission. Which brought more projects and of course a lot of work to do.

But of course, there is time left for my private life. I have a beautiful family and I am also a mother. I try to spend as much time as possible with my daughter and up to now I feel that I found the right balance between my work and my family life.

So, if I am allowed to give an advice: follow your dreams, overcome your limits and always have in mind that everything is possible!
