Plastic waste is harmful to our environment and a global problem. Continental is the first tire manufacturer to launch tires, with polyester yarn made from recycled PET bottles in April 2022. A set of standard passenger car tires now uses the material from around 40 recycled PET bottles. The project members Denise Sperl (Director Research & Development Car Tires EMEA) and Nermeen Nabih (Senior Reinforcement Engineer) provide insights into the technology, the project's objective and the special challenges in development.
