Preventive Maintenance with Conti Ultimate Industrial Hoses

      • Versatile and robust transport hose with wear indicator
      • Simple, effective process for timely hose replacement
      • Perfectly matched hose system for conveying slurries, sand, crushed stone and gravel

Hanover, April 2017. Smart solutions enable timely detection by operators of hose damage while still in operation, thereby allowing downtime as a result of leaks to be avoided. However, corresponding systems can be implemented not just digitally, but also in analog form – and extremely effectively, as the experience with Conti Ultimate industrial hoses shows.

The highly abrasion-resistant transport hose system has an optical wear indicator – the Conti Orange Liner. This orange liner between the rubber lining and the textile reinforcement enables the condition of the hose to be gauged at any time with a brief glance. If the orange liner can be seen, the hose either has to be rotated or, if necessary, completely replaced. The wear indicator therefore saves unnecessary hose changes and associated production downtime.

The Conti Ultimate transport hose system also offers a broad range of applications, simple fitting of couplings and numerous other new features. The flanges, which are made of a heavy-duty, rust-proof, seawater-resistant aluminum alloy and grip from both sides at the same time, were developed in-house. They are a perfect fit with the hose and enable two hose ends to be securely connected. The flange bolt circle meets both European standard EN 1092-1 and the American ANSI 16.5B.

The conical sealing elements, also an in-house development, ensure absolute leak-free performance. Their form simplifies installation and maintenance and prevents the transported medium from coming into contact with the flanges and damaging them. In addition, the hose is pressed firmly against the flange by these, further enhancing the security of the connection.

The wear-resistant suction and delivery hose with its reusable couplings is particularly suitable for transporting slurries, sand, crushed stone and gravel. It is available in internal diameters from 51 to 610 millimeters and, depending on the diameter, in lengths between 10 and 40 meters. It withstands temperatures from -40 to +80°C. Depending on the model, it has a rated operating pressure of 5 or 10 bar. The bursting pressure is 3.2 times the operating pressure, ensuring a large safety margin.

“The fact that we manufacture all the connecting elements ourselves gives our customers the security of a completely matched system,” says Konrad Matys, international business development manager for industrial hoses.
