Plug & Play High-Performance Computer: Always up-to-date and keeping it cool

      • Scalable and flexible integration concept for high-performance computers (HPC) from a single source.
      • Innovative cooling solution enables efficient thermal management for vehicle manufacturers.

Modern software-defined vehicles (SDVs) require scalable high-performance computers (HPCs) to process the rapidly increasing amount of data. They take driving safety, automation and an exciting user experience to the next level. With Continental's Plug & Play HPCs, vehicle manufacturers can still replace or upgrade individual computer modules, when the vehicle is already in the field – similar to the hard drive or graphics card on a desktop PC. Thanks to their high scalability, Continental's HPC solutions can be adapted to any vehicle architecture: from individual HPCs or as modular stack or rack solutions that combine various HPC modules in a single unit - each with innovative cooling and high-speed connections. In the stack and rack solutions with multiple HPC modules, direct high-speed data connections eliminate the need for costly cabling and electronics between modules.

With this solution approach, Continental reduces architectural complexity, weight and required installation space. Thanks to plug & play, only individual computing modules need to be replaced instead of the entire HPCs, if more computing power is required. This enables Continental to keep the vehicle up-to-date throughout its entire life cycle.

The high computing power of the HPC solutions also requires a cooling solution that avoids power losses and saves energy at the same time. This cooling effect is made possible by a cost-effective and flexible cooling pad. It can be easily adapted to the various HPC solutions and enables gap-free heat transfer. The independent cooling solution also offers easy installation and drip-free replacement of hardware modules..
