Start at Continental: 2016 in Onboard Diagnosis and Basic Software Integration​​​​​​​

Anyone who has ever dismantled a car realizes that an amazing number of parts besides tires come from Continental. This fills Johannes with pride. He is currently working on a pilot project to develop a fusion control device for driving functions that are necessary in automated driving.

For Johannes, the greatest challenge is to use a sensor function to correctly represent the vehicle's environment. The job of Johannes and his colleagues is to ensure that all these components work together and, for example, brake at the right moment.

In addition to increasing driving comfort, the reduction of fatalities and injuries in road traffic is a major goal of automated driving. It will drastically reduce the number of serious accidents. After all, Continental’s ultimate goal is Vision Zero – the prevention of all traffic accidents.

The road to Vision Zero is still long, but the technologies Continental has been working on, software and hardware, are bringing and will bring us to this vision step by step.
